Thursday, November 8th, 2007Bush replied that he had just spoken with the Pakistani strongman by telephone and had told him “that we believe strongly in elections, and that you ought to have elections soon, and you need to take off your uniform. You can’t be the president and the head of the military at the same time.” (Except, of course, that you can: Thanks to the provisions of the same U.S. Constitution Bush himself has violated, he serves as both the civilian head of America’s armed forces and the head of its federal government.)
